Hyacinthe Marie Cormier


HyacintheMarie Cormier, O.P. was a French Dominican friar and priest, who served as the 76th Master of his Order from 1904 until 1916. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II onNovember 1994.

Cormier was born LouisStanislasHenri Cormier onDecember 1832, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, in Orlans, France of a well to do family of merchants. His father died when he was still young, after which his mother took him and his only brother Eugne to live near their uncle who was a priest. His brother Eugne died shortly afterwards.
